Information We Collect

StockTheEvent is committed to protecting your privacy. We collect minimal information to provide our services:

• Email address: Only if you voluntarily send yourself a shopping list or sign up for planning notes.
• Usage data: Anonymous analytics about how visitors use our calculators, through PostHog (see below).
• Cookies: Analytics cookies, only after you accept them where consent is required (see Analytics and Cookies).

Analytics and Cookies

We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand which calculators get used and how. PostHog records page views and a handful of on-page actions (adjusting a guest count, copying a shopping list, clicking a link) with no name, address, or other information that identifies you personally. This PostHog project is shared with another site we operate; every event we send carries a site tag so the two never get mixed together in our reports.

If your browser's timezone or language suggests you are in the EU or UK, you will see a banner asking to accept analytics cookies or keep things essential-only. Until you accept, PostHog runs cookieless: it keeps no cookie and remembers nothing between visits. Choosing "Essential only" keeps it that way permanently. Choosing "Accept" lets PostHog remember your visit across pages and future visits using a cookie and local storage. Outside the EU and UK, PostHog runs with its normal, cookie-based behavior from the first page you load, and no banner is shown.

To opt out entirely, use your browser's tracking-protection or cookie settings to block requests to posthog.com, or install a browser extension that blocks analytics scripts. Blocking PostHog never breaks any calculator on this site; every number is computed in your own browser.

Advertising

We may run display advertising through Google AdSense. When ads are turned on, Google and its advertising partners can set cookies to personalize and measure ads, subject to your consent choice in the banner described above where consent is required. You can opt out of personalized advertising generally at adssettings.google.com or optout.aboutads.info.

Affiliate Links

Many product links on this site, including the "Things to have on hand" and "Where to buy" sections, are Amazon affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Clicking one of these links may set a cookie in your browser that tells Amazon the sale came from this site.

Email and Shopping Lists

If you enter an email address to receive a shopping list or sign up for planning notes, that address, the list itself, and the page you were on are sent to our email workflow, hosted on n8n, which sends you the email and keeps a record so we can honor unsubscribe requests. We do not sell, trade, or rent this information. Our sign-up forms also include a hidden field and timing check that block obvious spam submissions before they reach that workflow.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties beyond the PostHog, Amazon, and n8n relationships described above. We may share anonymous, aggregated data for analytics purposes.

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Unsubscribe from our emails at any time
• Request deletion of your email from our records
• Change your analytics cookie choice by clearing this site's local storage and reloading, which brings the consent banner back where it applies
• Access information we have about you

Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for individuals under the legal drinking age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

Changes to This Policy
